When Duck Sauce—a DJ duo consisting of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak—first teamed up back in 2009, they achieved some success with their debut single, “aNYway.” But they were far from an instant sensation. Sure, “aNYway” charted high in the United Kingdom and made some noise in countries like Belgium, France, and the Netherlands. But it didn’t catch on immediately in the United States. However, once Duck Sauce released their second single—a catchy tune called “Barbra Streisand”—in September 2010, they got a much, much different response.
“Barbra Streisand” was a huge hit right out of the gate. It landed at No. 1 on the music charts in the U.S. and also enjoyed success in the UK, Poland, Austria, Norway, Belgium, and a handful of other countries. It was a slam dunk and really solidified Duck Sauce as a force to be reckoned with.
Right now, Duck Sauce is enjoying that same kind of success thanks to their latest single, “It’s You,” which was released earlier this summer. It’s caught on and made waves both on the charts and in the clubs for the last two months and is another big hit for the Duck Sauce duo. And it’s still growing in popularity by the day! But before they go adding any more plaques to their walls, we thought we would celebrate the greatness of their first hit single, “Barbra Streisand,” by taking a trip down memory lane and remembering the 10 best moments from the “Barbra Streisand” music video, in GIF form. Thanks to appearances from Questlove, Kanye West, Pharrell, and tons of other celebrities, the “Barbra Streisand” video was a classic. And this collection of awesome GIFs proves it…
This sign is 100 percent correct. If you’re throwing a party, Duck Sauce does make all the difference.
Congrats, Questlove. You know all of the words to this song!
A milkshake? Mmmm…Don’t mind if I do.
Was A-Trak trying to teach Santigold a few moves here, or was it the other way around?
Biz Markie couldn’t make it to the video shoot. But fortunately, A-Trak did find someone to fill in for him.
Wait a second, is that…No, it couldn’t be, could it?
Kanye West is not amused. He is, however, singing “Barbra Streisand” in his head here. Can’t you tell?
Hey, Questlove, Pharrell knows all the words to this song, too!
