Nelly‘s new album (available here) is called M.O. And as he explained during his #AskNelly Q&A on Twitter on Tuesday night, M.O. actually stands for three things. It stands for “Moses” and “methods of operations,” but it also stands for the abbreviation for his home state of Missouri. So with M.O., Nelly is basically putting on for his home state—and his hometown of St. Louis—once again.
We say “once again” because Nelly has made a habit out of putting on for his city and his home state throughout his career. Ever since he dropped his first album, Country Grammar, way back in June 2000, Nelly has done everything he can to bring attention to the place that birthed him. So to help him celebrate the release of M.O., we decided to take a look back at the 10 things Nelly has done during his career to show love to St. Louis and Missouri. As you can see, M.O. is more than just an album title to Nelly; it’s his pride and joy.
