THE LAST BISON march forward with their full-length debut album for Republic Records, Inheritance, in stores and available via online retailers on March 5, 2013. The band will also be hitting the road for a spring tour that has them traversing the US from February through April, including stops at several music festivals and SXSW along the way.

The critically acclaimed seven-piece folk enclave transports listeners into the untamed heart of Virginia with sweet melodies and intricate instrumentation. These elements converge and yield the band’s self-proclaimed “mountaintop chamber” sound.

Channeling a rustic spirit through an artful amalgam of folk, classical, and rock, the group consistently sets itself apart. Ben Hardesty leads the Last Bison, and his dad Dan and sister Annah join him. Among the family are close friends Andrew and Jay Benfante, Teresa Totheroh, and Amos Housworth.

In addition to including the four songs from their Inheritance EP, the full album boasts another seven thoughtful sonic ponderings. With vivid lyrics, first single Switzerland echoes the beating heart of a world traveler seeking shelter from the winter cold.

Meanwhile, tracks like “Autumn Snow” and “Quill” proves to be pensive and poetic. The entire album remains an epic journey that’s both intimate and expansive in scope.

Critics continue to extol the band’s virtues. NPR described them as “classical-influenced Southern folk-rock,” while PopMatters called them “a band to watch in 2013.” The Aquarian Weekly added, “It wouldn’t be a surprise if Inheritance really puts them on the map,” and Absolute Punk proclaimed, “When artistry is this well-executed, it is something truly entrancing and an absolute delight to behold. And therein lies the power and beauty of THE LAST BISON.”

THE LAST BISON are sharing Inheritance with the world, and it’s a wealth in its own right.
