The Band Perry – siblings Kimberly, Neil and Reid Perry – will be an opening act for legendary country artist Alan Jackson when he embarks on tour this November. TBP – whose self-titled debut album, THE BAND PERRY, will be released on October 12 – will perform before rising country star Chris Young on the highly-anticipated tour.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be part of Alan Jackson’s tour what an honor!” said Kimberly Perry. “Alan’s work is so much a part of today’s country music you see his influence all over the charts. This is an amazing opportunity . . . we plan on making Alan proud!”
The trio s current single, “If I Die Young,” is Top Twenty and climbing on the Billboard and Mediabase Country singles charts. Penned by Kimberly Perry and developed with her brothers, “If I Die Young” has become one of the summer’s most talked-about songs in Country music, with download sales now exceeding 40,000 copies per week. “If I Die Young” is The Band Perry’s second single for Republic Nashville; TBP’s debut single, “Hip To My Heart,” was also a Top Twenty hit. Both singles are on the band’s five-song EP, which has sold briskly online all summer.
TBP was also just honored with a “Vocal Group of the Year” nomination for the 2010 CMA Awards; this is the band’s first national music award nomination.
The Band Perry originally hail from Mobile, Alabama, and now make their home in eastern Tennessee. After spending years honing their performing and songwriting skills, their music caught the ears of Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta and Republic Nashville President Jimmy Harnen; The Band Perry signed to Republic Nashville in the summer of 2009.
