Interview Mag Interviews Until The Ribbon Breaks + Fader Premieres “Perspective” Video

There’s a unique power to the pairing of music and film; energy harnessed in droves by Pete Lawrie Winfield. The British DJ, producer, and singer elicits an ominous shade of pop under the moniker Until The Ribbon Breaks, fusing R&B beats with prophetic vocals that speak of isolation, social decay, and the crumbling world around us. Until The Ribbon Breaks also “created a video for Silver trackPerspective,’ which deftly chops up clips of actors Jason Schwartzman and Anna Paquin. Of the making of ‘Perspective,’ which features Stones Throw rapper Homeboy Sandman, Winfield says:
I had written my verses and finished the track, I knew I wanted Sandman, as I had recently heard his track ‘Illuminati’ and thought he would fully understand the concept. I was still living in the UK at the time and had no label, no ‘team’ and no idea how to ask one for your favourite rappers to appear on your track. I decided to guess his email address. A month later, I was in a travel lodge in Bristol with the man himself, recording his verse onto my knackered laptop. Thank you Universe, thank you Sandman (h/t The Fader)
