Rose Villain

Rose Villain is a singer and songwriter from Milan, Italy, now based in New York City.  A film and horror enthusiast – she’s inspired by directors including Quentin Tarantino, the Cohen Brothers, Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch - and a fashion devotee, her eclectic interests include poetry, aliens, criminology and natural catastrophes, all of which find their way into her singular lyric sensibility. Having grown up on a love of rock – Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Guns’N’Roses and Metallica to name a few – Rose was soon drawn to hip hop, citing Kanye West as a major influence. Her music fuses pop, trap and 80’s vibes.

Her debut single ‘Get The Fuck Out Of My Pool’ – produced by SIXPM – was released in the summer of 2016. With hints of early Rihanna, it fused together modern dance music and African tribal percussions – live drums were recorded with Berbers in Morocco – complete with Villain’s provocative, no-holds-barred attitude. ‘Get The Fuck Out Of My Pool’ was swiftly followed by second single ‘Geisha,’ a mix of glitchy, beat-heavy electronica coupled with the rock guitar that Rose loves and her effortlessly provocative vocal delivery. Both singles were originally released independently, but later picked up and re-released by Universal Germany. Meanwhile, Rose was also co-writing and featuring on the hit single, “Don Medellin” for Italian hip-hop superstar Salmo, which topped the Italian Spotify charts upon its release.

In 2017, Rose released “Kitty Kitty”, for which Vogue Italia premiered the noir-influenced video, as well as a live video of “Geisha” (premiered by UK tastemaker mag Clash) and a remix of the same song by hot European production squad Swanky Tunes. At the same time, Vogue Italia’s support has extended to featuring Rose in a recent Milan campaign with Converse.

Her new single "Funeral Party," scheduled for release in the second half of 2018, is an infectious mix of island influences and urban beats powered by Rose’s defiantly celebratory vocals. The video – written and directed by Rose (as always) and shot in Kingston, Jamaica- features Rose as an unusually seductive, not so Grim Reaper.
